Helping commerce businesses understand and adopt AI responsibly.

A nonprofit association from the Baltics. We publish research, build free playbooks, and run events for retailers, brands, agencies, students, and public institutions in the Baltics and across Europe.

AI is moving from pilot projects to operational reality in commerce. The teams adopting it well are pulling ahead. The rest are spending money on tools they cannot evaluate. BAICA exists to close that gap, with evidence, practical guidance, and events anyone serious about commerce in the Baltics or Europe can join.

About

The gap we are closing

Every retailer, brand, and commerce team is hearing the same five questions a week.

  • 01Which AI tools are real and which are demos?
  • 02Where do we start without breaking what already works?
  • 03How do we use AI without losing customer trust or legal cover?
  • 04Are our competitors actually shipping this, or just talking about it?
  • 05What do we tell our board?

BAICA was set up to answer those questions with research and practical resources, not with vendor decks. We are a Latvian-registered nonprofit association working across the Baltics and the wider European commerce community.

What we do

Six programs, all open, all free for the industry to use.

/ 01

Industry research

Quarterly pulse surveys and an annual flagship report on AI adoption in commerce. Anonymised. Free benchmarks any team can use.

/ 02

Knowledge Hub

Free guides, checklists, and playbooks covering the AI questions commerce teams hit first. Built for people who need to ship something next week, not next year.

/ 03

Open Case Library

Real businesses, real numbers. What worked, what did not, and what it cost. Submitted by members, anonymised on request.

/ 04

Events

Meetups, breakfasts, workshops, and conferences across Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, and online. Keynotes from operators who are actually shipping AI, not consultants describing it.

/ 05

Responsible AI guidance

Practical resources on safe AI use in commerce: customer data, content rights, compliance, audit trails, and how to defend an AI decision to a regulator.

/ 06

Students and early careers

Direct support for students, young professionals, and SMEs entering AI-driven commerce. Workshops, mentorship, and a public route into the industry.

ComplianceEU AI Act

EU AI Act compliance, handled end to end

BAICA helps Baltic commerce businesses identify every compliance gap in their AI systems and fix them at the code level. One partner, from audit to implementation.

Why it matters

The world's first comprehensive AI law. Applies to any company placing AI on the EU market, including non-EU vendors.

The risk

Fines up to €35M or 7% of global annual turnover, higher than GDPR. Plus product removal from the EU market.

Who's affected

Recommender systems, search ranking, chatbots, dynamic pricing, fraud detection, content moderation. Most commerce stacks qualify.

What's required

AI system inventory, risk classification, transparency notices, human oversight, technical documentation and post-market monitoring.

51days left to comply with the EU AI Act

Full high-risk AI obligations enforce on August 2, 2026

How we work

Five values that govern everything we publish.

01

Practical

Every output should help someone ship something next week, not give them a theory to admire.

02

Open

Research, materials, and case studies are free for the industry. No paywalls on the things that should be public.

03

Responsible

We promote safe, ethical, evidence-based AI adoption. We name the things that go wrong, not only the things that go right.

04

Independent

Vendor-neutrality is built into our governance, not just claimed in our copy.

05

Collaborative

Built with businesses, universities, students, and public institutions together. None of those groups alone can solve this.

What people say about BAICA

One of the best organized conferences I've been. Diversity in thinking, speakers and cultural insights. Riga + Latvia punch above its weight. Kudos
